Success for West Durrington Campus as they showcase first ever Christmas decoration workshop

West Durrington Campus showcased their first ever Christmas decoration making workshop this week with over 100 people taking part.

The free festive event, which took place on Tuesday 12 December, was open for staff and students and was organised by Workshop Technician, Stephanie Farmer and the workshop props course team.

Over a hundred people took part in making decorations from materials left over from prop making projects and old Christmas decorations.

Stephanie said: “The day was a success. We were not sure how many people to expect, it was open to staff and students across the whole of West Durrington campus to run for a whole day.

“We had a range of Christmas Decorations to make, most popular being the wreaths, which were mainly recycled Christmas items, such as artificial Christmas trees and baubles. we even had Brynley Brooke doing DJ with Christmas songs, it made for a very festive atmosphere.

“Next year will be even better, we want to include more Christmas recycling into the decorations and we would love to include some Christmas themed carnival games.”

Staff and students enjoyed Christmas food while dressed in their favourite festive costume, with the day starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm.

Higher Education course leader, Daniel Jenkins said: “With a lot of hard work and recycling materials it was set up.

“We didn’t know if anyone would turn up, so it created a bit of nerves but once it happen is was amazing.

“It was better than expected and it was great to see so many happy, smiling faces. It will definitely run bigger and better next year as we are planning Christmas games and a decoration recycling theme!”
